"The Good, the Sad and the Drugly"

Bart sets up Milhouse to take the fall for a prank the two of them pulled, and the duo's friendship becomes strained when Bart falls for a charitable girl named Jenny. Meanwhile, Lisa becomes insane and depressed after reading Internet articles predicting that Springfield will be a barren wasteland in fifty years, and is given anti-depressants that turn her into a mindless zombie.

"Once Upon a Time in Springfield"

Krusty changes his show to get more girls to watch it by adding a princess character named Penelope. Krusty hates her at first until Princess Penelope reveals that she is Krusty's biggest fan. They fall in love and plan to get married. Bart, upset at the changes, tries to sabotage the wedding by bringing Krusty's former wives. Krusty feels unworthy of Penelope, so he cancels the wedding and Penelope leaves the show. Later, Krusty finds Penelope to apologize and says he has changed his mind. Meanwhile, a corporate recruiter encourages Homer, Lenny, and Carl to work for a nuclear plant in Capital City after Mr. Burns announces a moratorium on free donuts due to budget cuts. They accept the offer, but Burns persuades them to return by offering better donuts.

"Moonshine River"

Bart discovers that, out of all the female interests he has had, the only one who continued to like him was Cletus Spuckler's daughter, who has run away. He learns that Mary went to New York City to be a writer for Saturday Night Live. The Simpson family goes to New York, where Bart and Mary are reunited. Cletus comes to bring Mary home, so Bart helps her escape. Meanwhile, Marge and Lisa explore the city and end up performing Shakespeare in Central Park. Going home, Cletus comforts Bart after letting her go.
